More AI assistants welcomed

Our robots.txt now explicitly welcomes the crawlers behind Grok, Gemini, and DuckDuckGo's answers, alongside ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity. Being open to AI crawlers is part of the honest-free positioning — many competitors block them.

Language-aware sharing previews

Links shared to social and chat apps now declare the page's language, so previews render correctly for all 11 languages.

Old /en/... links work again

English pages live at the bare address without an /en/ prefix. Links that still use the old /en/... form now redirect to the right page instead of showing a 404.

Breadcrumbs stay in your language

On industry and comparison pages, breadcrumb and related-page links previously jumped back to the English version. They now keep your selected language, and a breadcrumb link that pointed at an arbitrary sibling page was removed.

Language switcher — 11 languages

The site interface is now available in English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, Indonesian, Russian, Thai, Burmese, and Chinese. Pick your language from the switcher in the header or footer. Navigation, buttons, forms, and the QR scanner are translated. Each language has its own web address (for example /es/ for Spanish), so search engines can list the right one for each region. The generators and your codes work exactly the same in every language.

Localized titles for the main tool pages

The page titles and descriptions on the core generator pages (single QR, barcode, bulk, scanner, templates) are now translated per language. Guide and comparison articles are still written in English for now.

Import from CSV or Excel

The bulk barcode and bulk QR generators now take a file. Drop a .csv, .tsv, or Excel .xlsx and it fills the value list for you. Multi-column files get a column picker so you choose which column holds the values, with a toggle for a header row. Everything is parsed in your browser — the file is never uploaded — and a one-click sample CSV shows the expected format.

Downloads are named after the site

Every download — single QR and barcode files, the bulk ZIPs, and the images inside them — now starts with "freebarcodeqr", so saved files are easy to find later and trace back to where they came from.

Contact form

The contact page now has a form — email, subject, and message — that sends straight to us. No account, no newsletter signup, no third-party sharing. Email and Telegram still work as before.

New visual design

The site moved to a cleaner look: an indigo accent, the Geist typeface, softer shadows, rounder corners, and a deep-blue ink in place of near-black. Same tools, same speed — just easier on the eyes.

Sharper generator controls

The QR and barcode generators, design panel, bulk tools, and scanner got a consistency pass: unified inputs and buttons, clearer focus outlines for keyboard users, steadier live numbers, and the generated code now sits on a defined preview stage.

A new section at /guides with five articles: whether QR codes expire, static vs dynamic codes, what size to print a QR code, why a QR code won't scan, and EAN-13 vs UPC-A. Written the way the rest of the site is — concrete numbers, standards cited, no upsell at the end.

Fact tables on all generator pages

Every QR landing page (URL, text, email, SMS, phone, location, event, app, WhatsApp, PayPal, Spotify, YouTube, Google review) and every barcode page (EAN-8, UPC-E, Code 39, Code 93, ITF-14, Codabar, Aztec) now opens with an at-a-glance spec table — payload format, capacity, print sizes, and the governing ISO, GS1, RFC, or AIM standard, each linked to the source.

Standards quotes

Each landing page now cites a short passage from its governing specification or official documentation, so you can verify the format details against the primary source.

Public changelog

Every shipped change to freebarcodeqr.com now lives at /changelog. Static QR codes outlive most websites; you should be able to see what changed on the tool that made yours.

Bulk QR code generator

Paste up to 50 URLs or lines of text, pick a color and dot style, preview the whole grid in one click, and download every QR as a ZIP of PNGs. Lives at /qr-bulk.

freebarcodeqr.com is now a Progressive Web App. Your browser can add it to your home screen or app launcher, and it works offline once visited.

Spec tables on barcode and QR pages

The most-used pages (EAN-13, UPC-A, Code 128, Data Matrix, PDF417, WiFi QR, vCard QR) now show an at-a-glance fact table with the ISO/GS1/RFC standard, capacity, character set, and print-size details — pulled straight from the official specs.

Popular QR shortcuts in the footer

WhatsApp, Google review, YouTube, PayPal, and Spotify QR generators are now linked from the footer so they're easier to find.

Related-page links read better

The cards at the bottom of each generator page now have a clean, clickable title and a separate description, instead of one long run-on link.

Shorter page titles in Google results

Page titles no longer get a `| freebarcodeqr.com` suffix tacked on. The titles now fit inside Google's truncation limit, so what you typed is what shows up.

www.freebarcodeqr.com now redirects to the apex domain

Visiting www.freebarcodeqr.com previously served the site as a separate duplicate, which confused search engines. It now redirects to freebarcodeqr.com.

Missing pages return a real 404

Pages that don't exist now return the proper HTTP 404 status, instead of looking like a duplicate of the homepage to search engines.

Social-media preview images on every page

Sharing a landing page on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, or Slack now shows the freebarcodeqr.com preview card. Previously many pages shared without an image.

Drop in a screenshot or photo of a QR code and we'll decode it in your browser. Nothing uploaded. Useful for checking what a code actually points at before printing.

Frames around downloaded QR codes

Add a label and border around your QR for print — 'Scan to view menu', 'Tap to connect', and so on.

QR codes can now be downloaded as a vector PDF, in addition to PNG and SVG.
