A printed frame raises scan rate. Uses your foreground color for the border and band; text is rendered in the background color for contrast.

Logo is overlaid in the center. Error correction is automatically raised to H (30% recovery) when a logo is present.

A real-estate QR is one of the highest-converting uses of QR codes: drivers pass a sign, scan from the car, and land on the listing page — phone numbers, photos, and 3D tour all one tap away. No need to type the URL or remember the listing number.

Generate one for free below. No signup, no monthly fee, no expiry. The code printed on your sign keeps working as long as the listing URL works.

What to link the QR to

Point at the listing page on Zillow, Realtor.com, your brokerage site, or your own listing site. Whichever you pick, use the URL you most trust to stay live. If you switch brokerages and your old listings disappear, the QR breaks.

Best practice: point at a page on your own domain (e.g. agentname.com/123-main) that you control. From there, you can redirect to whichever portal hosts the live listing, and you don't depend on third parties.

Don't point at the phone number directly via a tel: QR for a yard sign — driver scans, dialer opens, they have to wait until parked to actually call. A listing page works better because they can browse first, call when ready.

Print sizing for outdoor signs

Yard sign: 8 cm × 8 cm minimum. People scan from 1–3 meters, often from a moving car. Smaller doesn't reliably scan.

Open-house sandwich board: 10 cm × 10 cm. Higher contrast (pure black on pure white) reads in low light.

Brochure handouts: 3–4 cm is fine since people scan from arm's length.

Use a UV-resistant laminate. Sun bleaches normal ink within months; a faded QR stops scanning.

Sold-and-removed listings

When the property sells, the listing URL usually 404s or redirects to 'sold' page. A QR pointing at it then leads nowhere useful. Decide in advance what should happen: redirect to your agent profile, redirect to a similar listing, or simply take down the sign.

If you point at your own domain, you can choose. If you point at a third-party portal, you can't.

Recommended QR types for this use case

  • Listing URLThe standard sign QR. Encode the listing page link. (URL)
  • Agent vCardPrint on business cards and flyers. Scanning saves the agent's contact info. (vCard)
  • Open-house location pinEncode the property's GPS location. Scanning opens Maps with a pin dropped at the house. (Location)

Frequently asked questions

How long do printed QRs last outdoors?
Indefinitely if printed with UV-resistant ink and protected from rain. The QR data never expires; only the physical print degrades.
Can I track how many people scan it?
Not with a static QR like ours. Scan tracking requires a dynamic QR that routes through a redirect server — typically a paid feature on other tools. If scan analytics matter to you, your brokerage likely has access to a paid QR service that adds them.
What size code for a yard sign?
8 cm × 8 cm minimum for scanning from a car at a distance. Larger is fine; smaller starts failing at typical driveway distances.
